"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities".
- Voltaire.

Is there continuity between the anti-scientific and anti-capitalist
views of the 16th and 17th century Catholic Church and the present
anti-progress views - or do these mainly stem from Marx and Freud?

He hasn't proved that there hasn't been progress.
Maybe he doesn't even assert it.

The preceding lecturer assumed without proof that there had been
no actual scientific progress, merely changing fashions. Now you

material progress.

"because we are addicted to electricity" - p. 11
The ordinary language use of "addicted" suggests that an addiction
is bad. It is hard to say whether you are asserting that or not,
but you are suggesting it. Do you consider this bombastic language honest?

mush
